West Shore Trail

November night ride

Ranging from smooth dirt and pebble gravel to three inch crushed stone, this rugged rail trail is diverse. You will need to pick your lines carefully and contend with large puddles the width of the trail, if it has rained recently. I rode it on a Priority 600 with 2.2” wide tires. I wouldn’t recommend anything smaller than 38mm wide.

Cato-Fair Haven Trail

Pleasent stroll through the bog. Punctuated with numerous mud holes presumably generated by motor vehicles

Keuka Outlet Trail

Lots of places on the trail where it is almost all grass with just a dirt rut the size of a tire. Very bumpy, lots of rocks and lots of walnuts when we rode in October. Wouldn't ride this with a street bike. Waterfalls were beautiful.

I-390 Bike Path

very bumpy

October, 2023 by mconlon1

Nice day for this ride but bumps from roots and leaves on the path made it kind of tricky. Avg 10mph, but we were able to get to Schallers for lunch by getting off the path at Janes Rd and left to island cottage to head north. Nice road to ride.

Erie Canalway Trail

Medina NY to Gasport NY

About a 45 minute ride on the Erie Canal path ,starting at the Medina lift bridge, through farmland and villages (Middleport, Gasport) herons that are absolutely not afraid of you! Beautiful in the fall!

Ontario Pathways Rail Trail

Too many roots

September, 2023 by djudd1

My husband and I started in Canandaigua and almost reached Stanley before turning around. The single track trail was nice and flat in places, we would be roll big along and then bam! hit a section with roots. The scenery was nice but we will not return because of the bumpy ride.

Railroad Bed Trail (NY)

peaceful and lovely

September, 2023 by jennysrobot

I walked this trail in a Saturday morning on a holiday weekend and was surprised to find myself alone. It was calm and beautiful. Only a few dips and overgrown branches, overall very well taken care of. A bit more horse manure than I prefer, but it is an equestrian trail as well, so not unexpected. I will absolutely be back.

Keuka Outlet Trail

pleasant shady ride

September, 2023 by new28g-ret1

We enjoyed a leisurely ride on the trail on an unseasonably hot September day. There was enough shade along the way to make it pleasant. There’s nothing but a parking lot at Dresden end where we elected to turn around but looks like food and Seneca lake are just a blocks away. Note that the elevation at Pen Yan is a few hundred feet higher than at Dresden so we definitely worked harder going back. As for those who complained about tree roots, bugs, etc. we didn’t have any issues this day.

Cato-Fair Haven Trail

Fair Haven/ Cato

Not good for bike ride or walking! Muddy, rutted. For ATVs only

West Shore Trail

not ready for bike trail status

August, 2023 by dosheafordxl

The 1/2 mile in was paved, was beautiful. Next 1/2 mile poor. Next 8-10 miles was not bike worthy, to many large rocks or large gravel. Very rough to ride fast enough to escape in insects form Bergen swamp
